2 vintage nurses buttons + clips for belt apron cuffs Hospital uniform Art Deco
A pair of vintage nurses buttons (the old-fashioned type, with clips).
This type of fastening was used when buttons were not washable, and were not sewn on to the garment.
They were used for garments which needed to be washed more often then the normal "weekly wash".
The clips are used to keep the button in place.
These buttons measure just over half an inch across.
They are suitable for use with nurse's uniforms, particularly items which needed to changed daily, or several times a day, such as:
I do not know exactly how old they are - I would guess probably around the 1920s.
They are a creamy ivory colour - they have probably yellowed a little over the course of a century!
These buttons will be supplied in a plain gift box.
Small marks from normal use.
They may not have been originally a pair, but they are quite a good match, as you can see.
