A Naturalist at the Dinner Table E G Boulenger 1927 book 1st Ed edible animals
A Naturalist at the Dinner Table - a peculiar and entertaining book by E G Boulenger, aquarium director at London Zoo. It is about various edible animals - fish, shellfish, poultry, beef, mutton and of course the haggis. . Published by Duckworth in 1927. First edition. Hardback. 160 pages approx. Weight 280g.
Condition...Vintage book, nearly a century old, and in fairly good condition for its age, but with some age-related discolouration (age spots) on some pages. It has clearly been read several times, but the pages are generally clean and tidy, with a few marks. Covers are scuffed, faded and stained, with a large water stain on the front cover as shown - this has come through to the front endpaper, but has not gone through to the pages. Pencilled inscription from author to his friend, the portrait painter William Orpen, at the front, dated 1927.
