Antique Loochoo charger platter 16" serving plate P&B Aesthetic birds Victorian
Antique Staffordshire meat charger/serving platter by Powell and Bishop. Aesthetic taste. I am not an expert in dating pottery, but I think that the marks indicate that the plate was made in 1877. Loochoo oriental pattern, with birds and bamboo. Black and white. The backstamp includes the Caduceus trademark, with the intials P&B above.
There are also some impressed marks, but I cannot read these.
Please see the photographs to check the marks for yourself.
Size: 16 inches x 13 inches (41 cm x 33 cm) approx.
Weight 1440g.
Condition
Antique item, in good condition, but not perfect.
There is some minor discolouration and staining, as shown in the photographs.
There are also some dark pinprick spots - I am not a pottery expert, and I do not know the proper name of these, or what causes them.
There are also some dark spots near the rims, as shown.
Please check the photographs for a good idea of the condition of this item.
