Antique button-on dickey (shirt front). There are no labels, but it appears to be made of starched linen. Carlisle 4 (with 4 button holes). Probably Edwardian, but never used.
This type of garment was popular because it saved having to have your shirt washed and starched every day - and it was small enough to be laundered and starched at home. Length (straight down the centre front) 8.5 inches. Length at the side 11 inches. Maximum width 7.5 inches.
Condition: Antique dickey front, probably over a century old but never used and in splendid condition.
