CC41 detachable shirt collar size 15 vintage 1940s utility mark WW2 starched

Vintage detachable shirt collar.
Vintage 1940s stiff starched shirt collar for civilian use.
This is genuine wartime "utility" clothing, made during the time of clothes rationing in Britain (1941-1949).
These collars were stamped with the official CC41 Utility mark.
During the Second World War, there were restrictions on garment design, to minimize waste, and to ensure that resources could be concentrated on providing necessary supplies for the troops, together with a basic standard of clothing for civilians. The CC41 mark showed that these garments conformed with wartime economy standards.
Rationing was also in force - people wanting to buy the utility clothing, would have had to use their clothes ration coupons (as well as paying for the garments).
This was to ensure that everyone had an equal chance of buying necessary clothes, and to prevent hoarding and profiteering.
There is no garment composition marked on the collar, but it appears to be cotton.
You will need a pair of collar studs to attach the collar to your tunic shirt.
These studs are NOT included, but are available separately - the key stud in the photographs is just for display purposes.
Size
Collar size 15"
Condition
Vintage collar, made in the 1940s.
Fairly good condition, clean and starched, but with noticeable wear along the fold line.
Previous owner's laundry mark inside the collar, as shown.
The collar has obviously been made to wartime economy standards, and then used a lot - the result is that it has worn along the fold line.
This means that the collar, though an interesting nostalgic item, is no longer as smart as when it was first made.
