The Modern Grocer and Provision Dealer set of 4 books 1st ed shop trade c1919
Classic publication for grocers. Set of 4 illustrated hardback books. First edition, undated but the first volume refers to the "European War" presumably the First World War, so probably published around 1919. Deals with all sorts of subjects, such as the history of the trade, the production and processing of grocery staples such as tea, coffee and sugar, changing trends, legal requirements, and practical matters such as making a store look inviting, how to choose your range of stock, how to label things properly, and (of course) storage and transport - refrigeration in particular was an awkward and expensive matter in the early 20th century.
9.5" x 6.5" Combined weight 3250g.
