Vintage towel, made in 1936 to commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty Edward the Eighth, scheduled for 1937. This coronation never took place, as Edward abdicated the throne to marry the American lady Mrs Wallace Simpson. He became His Royal Highness the Duke of Windsor, and his brother was crowned George VI.
British Empire theme, with the national emblems of the main constituent countries of the United Kingdom:
Red and and blue (the colours of the Union Jack).

Size: 38" x 19" (96 x 48 cm) approx.
This item appears to be unused, but it is impossible to be certain.
It has survived for over half a century in beautiful condiiton.
There are some light storage marks - these will probably fade or disappear when the towel is washed, but this cannot be guaranteed.
