Vintage 1960s girls jeans UNUSED childrens trousers Age 4 6 years cotton drill
Vintage 1960s girls' blue jeans.
The shopkeeper in the 1960s has called them "cotton drill trousers", but I think we would call them "jeans" nowadays.
Suitable for girls
Ladybird brand, from the days when Ladybird was a high-quality brand, sold in independent drapers' shops rather than chain stores.
Elasticated waist, with decorative belt at the front.
This belt is just for ornament- it doesn't actually tighten or loosen.
One small sloping pocket
Made in Scotland, probably in the 1960s.
They were unsold shop stock, and have been in storage at the shop ever since.
These garments still have their original hand-written shop tags attached, complete with pre-decimal prices.
The prices range from 17/11 to 18/11 (17 shillings and elevenpence, to 18 shillings and elevenpence).
The decimal prices have been added on the side of the tags, presumably in 1971.
Choice of size
- Age 4 years.............height 40"...............outside leg (waist to hem) 23 1/2".............waist 19" to 21"
- Age 6 years.............height 45"...............outside leg (waist to hem) 27"......................waist 21" to 23"
New, with tags.
These jeans are about half a century old, and if you wish to wear them, they will need to be washed first - separately, in case the colour runs.
They have been properly stored in the shop, and are in beautiful condition.
There are some small marks on the belt, from the buckle.
I don't know if these marks will come out in the wash.
If you leave the buckle in place, these marks won't show anyway.
