This is a good quality, white formal evening dress shirt.
This is a collarless "grandad" tunic shirt.
It would originally have been worn with a separate collar.
The collar would have been held in place with a pair of collar studs.
Plain single cuffs for cufflinks.
Marcella front panels.
The front of the shirt has tiny mother-of-pearl buttons, but also slots for studs if you prefer these.
Size (from garment measurements)
Collar size: 16 inches approx (marked in shirt as 41 cm )
Chest measurement: 48 inches
Shoulder to shoulder: 18 1/2 inches
Length, neck to hem at the back: 38 inches
Length of sleeve, shoulder to end of cuff: 24 inches
Length of sleeve, armpit to cuff: 21 1/2 inches
This is an authentic vintage shirt, made just before, or during, the Second World War.
It has been freshly laundered (but not starched).
It is in fairly good condition for its age, but not perfect.
There is a pin head mark just underneath the back of the neckband.
Discolouration under the arms.
Slight damage (small rips) underneath the Marcella front, and a tiny tear just above the lower front hem.
These would obviously not be visible when the shirt is being worn.
